2024 Amateur Flower Arranging Contest

The Amateur Flower Arranging Contest

Sunday, August 11 from 10am – Noon – Heritage Building

  • Limited to the first 25 registrants.
  • To participate please register with the Fair Office at (301)926-3100 x205, beginning July 1st.
  • Flowers, greens & containers provided by Bell Flowers.
  • Bring your own equipment (i.e., Clippers or scissors, etc.).

All arrangements will be used in The Garden Room of the Heritage for luncheons during the Fair.

2024 My Best Fair Photo Contest

The Arts, Crafts, Hobbies and Photography Department is holding a special contest, My Best Fair Photo, during the 2024 Fair!

There will be four themed contests during the week:

 

Theme 1 “Children of All Ages”: Entries received noon Sunday, 8/11 through noon on Wednesday, 8/14. Judging will be held the evening of 8/14.

 

Theme 2 “Fair Flavors”: Entries received noon Sunday, 8/11 through noon on Wednesday, 8/14. Judging will be held the evening of 8/14.

 

Theme 3 “Moovin Around the Fair”: Entries received from noon Wednesday, 8/14 through noon Saturday, 8/17. Judging will be held the evening of 8/17.

 

Theme 4 “Fair Montage”: Entries received from noon Wednesday, 8/14 through noon Saturday, 8/17. Judging will be held the evening of 8/17.

 

Only one entry per person per contest will be accepted. Entries will be received using Google Form from 12noon to 8pm daily starting Sunday, August 11. (Entrants can find the Google Form on the website www.mcagfair.com or at the Arts & Crafts Building #3).

Ribbons will be awarded to the first, second, and third place photos. A champion for each contest will be selected from the first place winners and will receive a Family 4-pack of tickets to the 2025 Montgomery County Agricultural Fair.

The special contest entries can be picked up on release Sunday, August 18, from 1-4pm.

2024 Amateur Cheese Carving Contest

Tuesday, August 13th, 10:30 am, in the 4-H Building Exhibit Room

 

Come and show your artistic side and create a masterpiece with cheese!! The Fair will provide you with a two pound slab of cheese to carve your creation. You will be given 30 minutes to carve, some of the categories given for carving are Most Imaginative, Most Fair Related, Most Dairy Related, etc. Everyone gets a ribbon. Afterwards, visit The Big Cheese Booth to have one of the Fair’s famous grilled cheese sandwiches! Your artwork displayed in the cheese display case located where the contest was held.

1. Number of participants is limited to 12.
2. Must be an amateur carver.
3. Fair will provide a block of cheese, bring your own tools (example: paring knife, etc.)
4. You are welcome to pick up your sculpture the Sunday after Fair ends in the 4-H Building.
5. Participants must be at least 12 years old.
6. A confirmation letter for sign-ups will be mailed prior to event.

4. Entries must be postmarked by 8/20/2024.

5. A winner will be selected in each of the following age categories and will receive a ribbon and $25.00.

2024 You Be The Judge: Children’s Winter Hats

CHILDREN’S WINTER HATS

In celebration of the 75th fair and the 27th year of the You Be the Judge Contest, the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair invites all Montgomery County Residents to enter a special contest.

RULES TO ENTER THE CONTEST

    1. Children’s Winter Hats must be made by the exhibitor.
    2. Hats can be Crocheted, Knitted, Felted, Woven, or Sewn.
    3. Hats should be able to fit a child’s head.
    4. If you have any questions, please contact Karen Gillis at 301-869-0766.
    5. All entries become the property of the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair and will be donated to local area charities.

ENTRY TIMES

  • Bring your items to the Home Arts Building (top of Building 6) during normal fair registration hours.
  • Thursday, August 8th from 2PM to 8PM or Friday, August 9th from 2PM to 8PM

VOTING AND JUDGING

  • General Public voting will be held from Sunday, August 11 thru Wednesday, August 14 from 11AM to 9PM.
  • Winners will be notified by phone by end of day Friday, August 16.

A special awards presentation will be held in the Home Arts Building on Saturday, August 17 at 7PM.

A SPECIAL AWARD IS DONATED BY A FRIEND OF THE FAIR TO THE EXHIBITOR WHO DONATES THE MOST CHILDREN’S HATS TO THE CONTEST.

Project G Street 2024
Fashion Design Competition

Sponsored by G Street Fabrics

Calling all fashionistas…come one, come all, to embrace your inner designer at this year’s Project G Street. No fashion school needed. All skill levels, all ages are invited to show what you can do!

G Street Fabrics will once again team with the Home Arts Department to host a fabulous one-day fashion design and sewing competition at the Fair. Teams will pick up contest materials at G Street Fabrics during the period of August 3rd – 9th, and construct their outfits at the Fair in Heritage Hall 8:30am to 5:30pm on Saturday, August 10th.

The 1st place team will win a $300.00 gift card to G Street Fabrics, 2nd place team will win a $200.00 gift card, and the 3rd place team will win a $100.00 gift card.

2024 Creative Tablescapes Competition

“Tablescape” is a term used to describe the top of a table containing linens, dishes, silverware, a centerpiece and other décor to set a mood for a fabulous meal. Do you enjoy putting together the perfect table for holidays or parties?
Come show off your skill and creativity in this exciting competition!

2023 Toilet & Toilet Seat Decorating

Located near Building 3.

Rules:
1. All toilets and toilet seats must be cleaned and sanitized.
2. Toilets and toilet seats will not be furnished by the Fair.
3. Entries can be pre-registered using the form below and mailed to:

4. Entries are open to all residents of Montgomery County and Life Members of the Fair.
5. All entries must be able to withstand all types of weather, as they will be displayed outside.
6. Judging will be based on creativity and originality.
7. All entries must be taken to the designated area across from Building 3 on Friday, August 12, from 2pm – 8pm. (Please come to the Fair Office and ask for Leslie if you have any questions)
8. All entries must be picked up on Sunday, August 21, from 1pm–3 pm. Any entry not picked up by this time becomes the property of the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair.
9. The committee chairperson reserves the right to refuse any objectionable exhibit.
