The Fair offers many exciting contests where everyone can enter and show their skills!

Facebook Cash Selfie Contest

Object:

To take the ultimate selfie at the Fair and win $73! Winners will be announced daily during the nine days of the Fair. A random winner will be chosen each evening, announced on Facebook, and notified via Facebook. The objective of this contest is to expand the Montgomery County Agricultural Center’s (MCAC) social media presence through photo documentation of the event and contest winners.

 

Equipment needed:

Smart phone and the ability to post the picture onto Facebook.

 

How to play:

Fair patrons will have to go to the Official Fair Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/Mcagfair to post their photo with the hashtag #mocofair under the daily contest thread.  One selfie is permitted per individual and must include the following mention to be eligible for the cash prize: #mocofair All Facebook posts for this contest must be made PUBLIC for viewing by the Fair Social Media Committee.

 

All participants grant the use of their photo entry for promotional purposes by the MCAC on our social media outlets including but not limited to, Facebook, MCAC website, Instagram and others to advertise the contest, that we have a winner, and to encourage participation in the contest throughout the duration of the Fair as well as for other advertising purposes in print and online media.

 

Rules:

NO SELFIE STICKS ARE PERMITTED ON THE GROUNDS. SELFIES MUST BE TAKEN THE TRADITIONAL WAY.

 

Photo MUST be taken at the 2022 Montgomery County Fair to be eligible for the chance to win.

 

Inappropriate content will not be tolerated and will be deleted from the Fair’s Facebook page if posted.

 

There will be a random winner selected each evening of Fair. Either a Facebook video will be used to announce the winner or a comment to the winner will be posted on the contest thread.  Once the winner is selected we will notify them on Facebook via direct message. If the winner has not responded within seven days, they will be disqualified.

 

This contest is for General Admission Fair Patrons who have purchased or have been provided with a complimentary ticket, and is intended to promote the Fair and boost our social media presence in the community. No Fair employee, Board Member, Jr. Board Member, Royalty, Volunteer, Contractor, Life Member, Associate Member, Vendor, Concessionaire, Honorary Member, Exhibitor, Boy Scout Troop 447 member or other person providing services to the Montgomery County Fair is eligible to win the cash prize.

 

The prize will only be awarded to an individual one time. Participation is encouraged all nine days, however each individual will only have one opportunity to win.

 

Each winner will get a check mailed to them for the $73 prize within ten business days after the Fair ends.

My Best Fair Photo Contest

The Arts, Crafts, Hobbies and Photography Department is holding a special contest, My Best Fair Photo, during the 2022 Fair!

 

There will be four themed contests during the week:

 

Theme 1 “Children of All Ages”:  Entries received noon Sunday, 8/14 through noon on Wednesday, 8/17.  Judging will be held the evening of 8/17.

 

Theme 2 “Fair Flavors”:  Entries received noon Sunday, 8/14 through noon on Wednesday, 8/17.  Judging will be held the evening of 8/17.

 

Theme 3 “Moovin Around the Fair”:  Entries received from noon Wednesday, 8/17 through noon Saturday, 8/20.  Judging will be held the evening of 8/20.

 

Theme 4 “Fair Montage”:   Entries received from noon Wednesday, 8/17 through noon Saturday, 8/20.  Judging will be held the evening of 8/20.

 

Only one entry per person per contest will be accepted.  Entries will be received in the Arts, Crafts, Hobbies, and Photography building (Building #3) from 12noon to 8pm daily starting Sunday,  August 14.  (Entrants must come to the building to fill out the entry form and sign photo release. The picture must be in jpeg format only.)

 

Ribbons will be awarded to the first, second, and third place photos.  A champion for each contest will be selected from the first place winners and will receive a Family 4-pack of tickets to the 2023 Montgomery County Agricultural Fair.

 

The special contest entries can be picked up on release Sunday, August 21, from 1-4pm.

Invitational Amateur Cheese Carving Contest

Tuesday, August 16th, 10:30 am, in the 4-H Exhibit Room

 

Free-form art sculpturing. With a 2-pound block of cheese, you have 30 minutes to carve your masterpiece. Come with your ideas. Awards are given out for the most imaginative, finest art, most Fair related, etc. Everyone gets a ribbon. Afterwards, don’t forget to visit the Cheese Booth to have one of the Fair’s famous grilled cheese sandwiches and to see your artwork displayed behind the Cheese Booth in the Cheese House!

1. Number of participants is limited to 12.
2. Must be an amateur carver.
3. Fair will provide a block of cheese and some plastic clay carving tools, bring your own tools (example: paring knife, etc.)
4. Entries will be displayed in the Cheese House for the remainder of the Fair.
5. Participants must be at least 12 years old.
6. A confirmation letter for sign-ups will be mailed prior to event.

2022 You Be The Judge: Children’s Winter Hats

YOU BE THE JUDGE

WINTER HATS FOR CHILDREN 

 

In celebration of the 73rd Fair and the 25th year of the You Be the Judge Contest, the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair invites all Montgomery County Residents to enter a special contest.
Children’s hats to be donated to local charities and elementary schools.

 

RULES TO ENTER THE CONTEST

1.Children’s Winter hats must be made by the exhibitor.
2.Hats can be Crocheted, Knitted, Felted, Woven, or Sewn.
3.Hats should be able to fit a child’s head.

5.All entries become the property of the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair and will be donated to local area charities and elementary schools.

 

ENTRY TIMES
Bring your items to the Home Arts Building (top of Building 6) during normal fair registration hours.
Thursday, August 11th from 2PM to 8PM or
Friday, August 12th from 2PM to 8PM

 

VOTING & JUDGING
1. General Public voting will be held from Sunday, August 14 thru Wednesday, August 17 from 10AM to 9PM.
2. Winners will be notified by phone by end of day on Friday, August 19.

 

A special awards presentation will be held in the Home Arts Building on Saturday, August 20 at 7PM.

 

A SPECIAL AWARD IS DONATED BY A FRIEND OF THE FAIR TO THE EXHIBITOR WHO DONATES THE MOST CHILDREN’S HATS TO THE CONTEST.

Rules:
1. All toilets and toilet seats must be cleaned and sanitized.
2. Toilets and toilet seats will not be furnished by the Fair.
3. Entries can be pre-registered using the form below and mailed to:

4. Entries are open to all residents of Montgomery County and Life Members of the Fair.
5. All entries must be able to withstand all types of weather, as they will be displayed outside.
6. Judging will be based on creativity and originality.
7. All entries must be taken to the designated area across from Building 3 on Friday, August 12, from 2pm – 8pm. (Please come to the Fair Office and ask for Leslie if you have any questions)
8. All entries must be picked up on Sunday, August 21, from 1pm–3 pm. Any entry not picked up by this time becomes the property of the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair.
9. The committee chairperson reserves the right to refuse any objectionable exhibit.
