Mrs. Kay Harding White, 78, of Germantown, Maryland, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family, on Thursday, May 3, 2012. She was born on February 6, 1934, in Washington, D.C., and was the daughter of the late George and Cathryn Harding. Kay spent her entire life living in the Gaithersburg area. In 1954, she married her husband of 58 years, Washington W. White III from Laytonsville, Maryland.
In 1952, she graduated from Gaithersburg High School. She was an avid sports fan and loved watching her six children play a variety of sports. Later in years, she competed in volleyball and softball and travelled the USA competing in these sports. Her teams participated in Masters and Senior Olympic Competitions and won both Gold and Bronze Medals. Kay enjoyed gardening with a special love for Azaleas. She was a devoted wife and mother who enjoyed family and friends gathering at the farm “White House”.
Mrs. White is survived by her husband Washington. Six children: Washington White IV, and wife Susan; Pat White; Mike White, and wife Debbie; Tracy Watson, and husband Mike; Bill White, and wife Rita; and devoted daughter Nancy White. Nine grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister Lynne Alger, and brother Warren Harding. Her sister Betty Harding preceded her in death.
