Thelma Mae (Hensley) Van Why, 85, of Millersville, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at LGH. She was the loving wife of Arthur W. Van Why, Jr. for sixty-six years. They were married on February 17, 1951.
Born October 18, 1931 in Pittston-Hughestown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Henrietta (Brobeck) Hensley.
Thelma was a 1949 graduate of Hughestown High School. A Methodist, she was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Lancaster for many years. She served on numerous committees and was a member of the women’s group. She was also a member of the Millersville Lady Lioness Club for many years. She enjoyed bowling in different leagues throughout her life.
In addition to her loving husband, Thelma is survived by her children, Artie of Millersville, Susan of Maryland; as well as her grandchildren, Mark of York, Jennifer of Hagerstown, MD and four great-grandchildren, Hunter, Ryan, Kaitlyn Mae Spencer of York and Logan Arnett of Hagerstown, MD. Thelma was preceded in death by a son, Allen Wayne.
