Employee of the fair for 18 years – known as “Wild Bill”
William Bonney “Bill” Carter, 58, of Gaithersburg, MD, passed away on Tuesday, January 24, 2017, at Shady Grove Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on February 18, 1958, in Bethesda, MD and spent most of his life in the Darnestown, Germantown, and Gaithersburg areas of Montgomery County. He is survived by his loving wife Peggy who he shared 40 wonderful years; three daughters, Monica, Kathleen, and Carmen; ten grandsons, John, Joseph, Cody, Dallas, Darryl, Tyler, Lee, Austin, Devin and Jasper; his mother, Elizabeth Carter; brothers, Harry, Oscar, Joe and Tom; sisters, Edna and Elizabeth; sisters-in-law, Rose and Patty; nieces, Chrissy, Starr, and Colleen and a nephew, Edgar. Family was the number one priority to Bill. He played an active role in raising his grandsons.
Bill was a long time employee of the Montgomery County Agricultural Center/Fair Grounds, working there nearly 20 years. He will be greatly missed by his co-workers, volunteers, 4-H families, and vendors. He worked tirelessly to make sure the grounds and buildings were taken care of and ready for the fair, 4-H activities, and other events. Everyone will certainly miss that smile on his face, that twinkle in his eye and that statement “What do you want NOW?”
When not working, Bill enjoyed spending time with family and making sure everything was good for them.
