Ruth May Sentelle, 84, of Frederick, MD went home to be with the Lord after a courageous battle with cancer on February 4, 2023. Ruth was born on February 18, 1938, to parents Mildred and Edward Hallman in Washington, DC. Ruth graduated from Montgomery Blair High School in 1955. 

Ruth worked for 37 years at Montgomery County Public Schools, as a bus driver, and later in the Special Education Division office. She retired in 2008 and became active in the Senior community, Art, Bowling, and many other activities. Ruth’s love for people, music, travel and especially art kept her very busy. She was a member of the Redland Baptist Church. 

Ruth was predeceased by her parents, her husband Les, grandson Dustin and grandson in-law Christopher, and four stepsons William, Robert, John and Thomas. Ruth is survived by siblings Mildred of Clarksville and Carolyn (Carl) of PA/AZ. Ruth is survived by her children, Georgann of Olney, Eddie of Frederick, Darin of Burkittsville, Cindy (Patrick) and Charlene of Woodsboro, and stepdaughters Joy and Carol. Ruth is survived by grandchildren Amanda, Joshua (Kristen), Autumn, Jessica (Marty), David (Britt), along with eleven great-grands, and two on the way. Ruth left behind her special four-legged friend “Spikey” and his sister Penny. Ruth will be missed by countless family, friends, and acquaintances that held her dear to their hearts. 

Ruth was an excellent cook/baker, winning many blue ribbons for her cakes. She was also an avid bowler and artist. She was very involved in the art community as a Lifetime member of the Montgomery County Fair, volunteering many years in the Arts and Crafts building. Ruth was a special member of the Art League of Germantown, Artists on Market, the Gaithersburg Fine Arts Association, and the Frederick County Art Association. Ruth was taking art classes up until her last few months. Ruth was a member of the Fat City Bowling team, and prior of the Four Queens team in Gaithersburg, MD. She loved Disney, traveling with close family members, gardening/flowers, Music of all genres, (Rock & Roll) concerts, live shows, Beauty & the Beast, running, swimming, & spending time with her family & friends.

Ruth was loved dearly by everyone that met her, and her infectious smile, kind words and giving heart will be missed by all.
