Ruth Alice Carson Proctor, 78, of Woodbine, who served 22 years as a 4-H youth development educator in Montgomery County, died of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis on Oct. 7, 2009.
Ruth was born on Oct. 14, 1930, in Indiana. She moved to the Washington area after being selected as an International 4-H Youth Exchange fellow with the National 4-H Council.
She retired from Montgomery County Cooperative Extension Service in January 1997 after serving as a 4-H agent and county extension director.
Ruth made a lifelong commitment to serve her community through endless hours of professional and volunteer work through 4-H, Phi Mu and church.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 52 years, Frank B. Proctor; three daughters, Gail Lynn Healy of Durham, N.C., Jennifer Ruth Tolson of Mount Airy, and Suzanne Elaine Proctor of Frederick; her brother, John C. Carson of Noblesville, Ind.; nine grandchildren; and many devoted family and friends
