Louisa White Riggs, of Brookeville, Maryland passed away peacefully, Thursday October 27, 2016 with family by her side. She was wife of the late Robert Darrington Riggs, Sr., who died November 1974. She and her late husband were married December 11, 1948.
Born March 2, 1925 in Laytonsville, Maryland, she was a daughter of the late Washington W. Sr. and Louisa Griffith White.
Louisa was a graduate of Gaithersburg High School and the University of Maryland. She was a prominent local businesswoman. A life -long member of St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church in Laytonsville; the Ladies Guild of St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church; Laytonsville Women’s Club; life member of the University of Maryland Alumni Association; Sister of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority; a former member of the Board of Directors of Sandy Spring Bank; former president of the Montgomery County Agricutural Fair; as well as many other life achievements.
Surviving her are two children Robert Riggs, Jr. of Brookeville, MD., and Louisa Krebs of Gordon, NE.; five grandchildren: Ty Krebs, and Kami Scott both of Gordon, N.E.; Jason Riggs of Brookeville, MD.; Aaron Riggs of Elizabethtown, KY.; and Lindsey Riggs of Mount Airy, MD. Five great grandchildren: Sage Krebs, Kynsleigh Krebs, Kashlyn Krebs, Louisa Payton Scott and Harper Scott; a brother Washington White, Jr. of Germantown, MD., and sister-in-law Barbara White of Laytonsville, MD.; and many other nieces, nephews and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her brother Charles T. White, sister Dorothy Tessier, and an infant great grandchild Bridget Krebs.
