Ernest was a volunteer in the Rabbit Barn. He encouraged 4-H members to keep record books by giving cash awards for successfully completing their record books.
Ernest A. Priest, 75, of Rutland, Vt., formerly of Germantown, passed away on Sept. 10, 2008, at the Genesis Mountain View Center.
He was born in Mount Holly, Vt., Nov. 22, 1932, the son of Erwin and Edith (Witham) Priest.
After graduating from Rutland High School in 1950, he entered the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War. He was employed by IBM in Gaithersburg and retired in 1991. Mr. Priest enjoyed fishing, woodworking and gardening. He volunteered at the Montgomery County Fair, and was a member of the American Legion.
Survivors include two daughters, Wanda Day and husband, Kenneth, of Emmitsburg; and Melanie Priest of Windsor Mill.
