Augusta Mae King Wayne passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, December 25, 2014. She was the daughter of the late Harrison and Gladys Allnutt King.
She was born and raised on the family farm near Goshen, and attended Laytonsville Elementary School and Gaithersburg High School, where she graduated in 1954. She married her sweetheart Donald in 1955, and moved to her newly built home across the road.
She was an active lifelong member of Wesley Grove United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, and was a member of the Women’s Society. She was a member of the Woodfield Girls 4-H Club as a child, and later chartered and led the Goshen Girls 4-H Club. Augusta was a member of the Maryland 4-H All Stars, the Goshen Homemakers Club, the Laytonsville Women’s Club, and a Life Member of the Montgomery County Agricultural Center.
Besides her husband, Augusta is survived by her daughters Cynthia (Cindy) and husband David of Houston, Texas; Donna and husband Michael of Damascus; and Mary Beth and husband Brian of Wilmington, Delaware; Grandchildren Stephanie and husband Ben, Andrew and wife Amanda; Amy, Scott, Katie, Nicholas, and Rachel. She is also survived by brothers John King and wife Barbara of New Market and Tom King and wife Nannette of Darnestown, and cousin Bob Allnutt of Etchison, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
